The Neuroscience of Inclusion:
How to Mindfully Steer Brain Activation to Develop Inclusive Leadership
How does your brain activity affect the people around you and your organization? Furthermore, what differentiates the brain of an inclusive leader and how does their brain activity affect the people with whom they work?

In this experiential session, you will gain a visceral understanding of why inclusion is vital to outstanding performance at the individual and organizational level. You will learn about the impact of exclusion on the human brain, how it impairs the functioning of key neural networks that support our capacity for emotional intelligence, collaboration, creativity, and innovation, and how this impairment can become contagious. You will also learn how inclusion improves the functioning of these key neural networks and how intentionally developing and strengthening these neural networks builds the capacity for inclusive leadership. In addition, you will learn and practice mindfulness techniques to activate and “exercise” these neural networks so you can more effectively create inclusive spaces and facilitate inclusive conversations.
Learning Objectives:
-
Understand how to connect exclusion and inclusion to three primary patterns of brain activation.
-
Use insights from neuroscience and mindfulness to shift your own pattern of brain activation by building up the brain systems that support emotional intelligence and inclusive leadership
-
Intentionally harness the contagiousness of your own brain pattern to foster an inclusive environment for growth and collaboration
The Neuroscience of Wisdom:
How Mindfulness Builds the Neural Networks for Emotional Intelligence
Are widespread beliefs that emotions negatively impact reasoning and decision-making true? Is our ability to reason separated from or intertwined with the "emotional brain"? How can insights from neuroscience help us understand and harness the wisdom of our emotions?
The purpose of this session is to provide a deeper understanding of emotional intelligence by synthesizing research on the brain systems that correspond to processing emotions, empathy, and decision-making. Experiential exercises will bring these insights from neuroscience to life to give you a visceral understanding of how emotions are vital to cognition and the development of wisdom. You will also learn and practice mindfulness techniques to enhance and build the neural networks that correspond to emotional intelligence.

Learning Objectives:
-
Improve self-awareness by learning how to connect emotions, urges, and impulses to three primary patterns of brain activation
-
Use mindfulness techniques to center yourself and shift into the pattern of brain activation that enhances wisdom and intuition
-
Learn how to intentionally guide brain activation through interpersonal interactions to strengthen connection, empathy, compassion, and collaboration
Three Critical Skills to Navigate Crises:
Re-center Your Body, Re-set Your Mind, Re-connect to a Greater Purpose
What physiological changes do crises trigger in the human brain and body that make it even more challenging for people to be calm, think clearly, and collaborate effectively? What can we do to counteract these changes to restore optimal functioning and prevent prolonged stress from wearing down our bodies and fogging up our minds?

This experiential session sheds light on the impact of stress and adversity on the brain, so you are able to recognize these patterns in yourself and your team and understand the importance of investing in self-care as a critical component of a leader's daily routine. In addition, you will learn how to exercise and train your brain using various mindfulness techniques to enhance resilience, mental agility and clarity, connection, and collaboration so you can more effectively navigate and steer your organization through the crises that inevitably arise.

Learning Objectives:
-
Recognize how stress impacts the brain in ways that negatively affect how people feel, think, interact, and make decisions
-
Use mindfulness practices to optimize your brain functioning and develop resilience, mental agility and clarity, and connection, and collaboration
-
Harness your inner wisdom and strength to rise to the toughest of challenges
A Mind-Hacker's Guide to Mindfulness, Self-Mastery, and Being an Inspiring Leader
Mindfulness has become a big buzzword as a growing number of executives from leading companies, such as Apple, Google, Salesforce, and SAP extol the benefits of mindfulness for reducing stress, sharpening focus and clarity, improving emotional intelligence, and enhancing innovation. But what exactly is mindfulness and can it really make a difference in your life?
During this experiential session, Due Quach will demystify mindfulness through a series of fun and easy exercises and use insights from neuroscience to shed light on the experience of mindfulness. She shares a practical approach to examine how your mind works, direct your own brain development, and break free of mindless patterns that keep you from realizing your full potential.
Learning Objectives:
-
Understand how the way you fluctuate between three primary patterns of brain activation influences your effectiveness as a leader and the impact you make on the people around you.
-
Use mindfulness practices to develop and strengthen the neural networks that enable you to master urges and impulses and break self-limiting behaviors and patterns
-
Steer brain development to enhance your capacity to see a bigger picture vision and inspire people to realize that vision
A Mind-Hacker's Guide to Healing Addiction and Trauma
What insights from mindfulness and neuroscience can guide people on the journey to recovery? How can mindfulness enhance our awareness of patterns that hold us back and empower us to break these patterns?

In this experiential session, Due Quach sheds light how experiences of trauma increases vulnerability to addiction, which often results from turning to self-medication as a coping mechanism. She also shares lessons and techniques from her journey of combining neuroscience and mindfulness to heal the long-term effects of poverty and trauma in herself and in communities experiencing great adversity.
Learning Objectives:
-
Understand how acknowledging and healing trauma is an important part of the path to recovery
-
Apply a simple, easy-to-remember framework to recognize and re-wire neurobiological mechanisms that underlie urges and impulses related to addiction
-
Learn techniques and practices to strengthen the neural networks that enable people to replace unhealthy coping behaviors with strategies that support well-being
Testimonials
"Understanding a bit of the neuroscience behind how our brains process social rejection, and the pattern that we then carry into our lives, is a great neutral primer for taking on info about DEI issues. Without this primer, there is a high degree of resistance, apathy or defensiveness in audiences learning about DEI issues. I'm using this info to help me prime my audience for the DEI training materials I'm creating. I'm also using the info personally in my own growth."
—Alyssa Hand, e-Learning Trainer, MOM's Organic Market"
"This was extremely well structured and shows the clear and research-supported individual and societal benefits of living mindfully, especially in a world that frequently brings out reactive and exclusionary us-and-them attitudes and behaviours in us. The model Quach presents is elegant and shows concretely and practically the path to integrating mindfulness and compassion in our everyday challenges and encounters, be they in the workplace or elsewhere. Bravo and thank you!"
